Wine Barrel Ring Mirrors Before it held the mirror, it held the wine. Every ring in our collection is a retired hoop from a working wine barrel — sourced by hand from farms across the Western Cape. When a barrel reaches the end of its life, the hoops are recovered. Each one carries the history of what it contained: the tension of years, the marks of the cooperage, the particular character of where it came from. No two are identical. No two ever will be. We clean, finish and hand-mount each ring ourselves, fitting a 3mm polished mirror cut to sit flush within the hoop. The result is an object that is simultaneously found and made — part recovery, part craft, entirely original. Finishes Every mirror is finished in Hammerite — a premium rust-inhibiting coating available across the full colour range. Black hammered is the signature finish. Raw steel and custom colours are available on request. The hammered texture catches light the way the barrel caught its years — with depth, not uniformity. Sizing Each ring is sourced individually, which means sizes are determined by what the farms yield — generally between 30cm and 90cm in diameter. We will always find the closest available ring to your preferred dimension and advise you before proceeding. You are not buying a standard size. You are commissioning a specific object.
